Bio

My students and I investigate how ocean chemistry and biology co-evolved throughout Earth history. This includes a major focus on constraining the initial accumulation and proliferation of oxygen in our atmosphere and oceans. Our research includes each geochemical studies of elemental cycling in modern seawater and sediments as well as that of rocks that archive events millions to billions of years ago when seawater chemistry varied widely from that of today.
