Bio

Zuo had mathematics training in China from 1980-1983. He received his MS degree in Numerical Mathematics from Lanzhou University in 1990. After lecturing mathematics for three years at Central South University, he came to the US in 1993 and earned his MS degrees in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, and his Ph.D. in Statistics in 1998 from the University of Texas at Dallas.

He is an elected Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. His current research interest is in the robustifying penalized regression methods (lasso and its variants) for analyzing ultrahigh dimensional data that might contain outliers or contamination and heavy tails.
