Teresa Joyce Vicary

Teresa J. Vicary is an accomplished Human Resources leader with over 20 years of experience driving HR strategy, operations, and organizational development across higher education, healthcare, finance, and nonprofit sectors. She currently serves as the Human Resources Associate Director for the Michigan State University College of Natural Sciences, where she acts as a strategic partner to the Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, Chairs, Directors, and other college leaders. In this role, Teresa leads a team of HR and administrative professionals within the Dean’s Office and provides advisory support to HR and administrative professionals across departments and programs.

Before joining the College of Natural Sciences, Teresa was the Human Resources Department Manager at MSU’s Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). There, she led a team of HR professionals and collaborated closely with executive leadership to align HR practices with the laboratory’s scientific mission and the standards of the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science.

Earlier in her career, Teresa served as Director of Human Resources and Volunteer Services at McLaren Greater Lansing, a large healthcare system. She oversaw HR operations, talent acquisition, employee relations, and volunteer engagement and earned the McLaren Excellence in Leadership Award for her outstanding contributions. Her experience also includes key HR roles at Greenstone Farm Credit Services and Capital Bancorp Ltd., where she managed various HR functions, including payroll, benefits, wellness programs, compliance, and multi-state operations.

Teresa is a passionate advocate for the HR profession and has held multiple leadership roles with the Greater Lansing Society of Human Resource Management, including Chapter President and Past President Advisor. She is recognized for fostering inclusive workplace cultures, advancing strategic HR initiatives, and mentoring emerging HR professionals.

She holds a Master of Science in Administration (Human Resources Management) from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University, with concentrations in Human Resources, Business Law, and General Business. Teresa is also a certified Notary Public in the State of Michigan.
