### Research Interests
My research focuses on the acquisition and consolidation of complex skills and episodic memory. Although my training is in cognitive psychology, and I use standard cognitive paradigms in my research. I am also interested in studying the underlying biological mechanisms of learning and consolidation using a broad range of other methods. My research examines the role of sleep in learning and how learning differs across species. To do this work, I employ neurophysiological measures such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). These methods allow me to go beyond cognitive descriptions of memory durability and interference to consider theories of forgetting and retention grounded in biological explanations such as synaptic pruning.
