Biology of host-pathogen interactions.

### Quick Profile

**What got you interested in plants and plant science?**
My initial interest in dealing with some interesting biology problems and my positive interactions with my advisor in plant sciences led me to join the plant science field.

**What is your research about?**
My major research is on the molecular biology of host-pathogen interaction.

**What is the potential societal impact of your research?**
Once we better understand how plants protect themselves from pathogen infection using both preformed and induced defense responses, we can use that theoretical knowledge to produce resilient crop plants. For instance, we could grow these resilient crops in harsher environments around the world in order to meet the food requirements of our increasing global population.

**Where do you see yourself in 10 years?**
I hope to be working at a university as a researcher, doing something that can make our daily lives better.

**On a Saturday afternoon, you'll likely find me:**
The gym, a coffee shop, or just at home.
