There I was introduced to my first plant pathogen, Phytophthora infestans, and saw how it could devastate crop yield. This research highlighted to me the need and potential for basic research at the interface of plant specialized metabolism and agriculture, especially with the extreme environmental and societal pressures currently placed on existing agricultural systems. **On a Saturday afternoon, you'll likely find me:** Enjoying a local coffee shop or relaxing with my cats.
