Bio

mRNA translation is the final step of the central dogma and provides organisms rapid/dynamic regulation on developmental programs and environmental responses. We exploit genome-wide approaches to monitor mRNA translation and uncover new translation events. We then use a combination of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and computational approaches to dissect their functions and regulatory mechanisms at global and gene-specific scales. Currently, we focus on gene expression regulation in plant growth and responses controlled by the stress hormone, abscisic acid (ABA). Our long-term goal is to leverage the novel regulatory mechanisms to control gene expression and promote plant resilience to the environment.
