Bio

Xie holds a B.S. in chemistry from Nankai University in 2010 and a Ph.D. in solid-state chemistry and materials from Iowa State University and Ames Laboratory in 2014 with Prof. Gordon J. Miller. She then moved to Princeton University as a postdoctoral fellow in quantum materials in the laboratory of Robert J. Cava. Xie started her independent research lab at Louisiana State University in 2016 and relocated to Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2020. In 2022, she moved to Michigan State University where she now holds appointments as an associate professor of Chemistry. Xie’s research focuses on exploring novel quantum materials from chemistry perspectives with a combination of experimental and theoretical approaches, focusing on superconductors, quantum spin liquids, and topological materials. Her group also works on investigating quantum materials using X-ray and neutron scattering techniques at ambient and high pressure.
