###Research Interests
I work at the intersection of synthetic biology, biophysics, and experimental/computational biochemistry. I focus on how organisms optimize carbon and light use under dynamic environmental conditions. From cyanobacteria to higher plants, I tackle fundamental and applied questions about carbon metabolism, photorespiration, light harvesting, and lumenal redox cascades.

**What got you interested in plants and plant science?**
The ability of plants to sequester carbon while producing food for all life on earth was always fascinating to me.

**What is your research about?**
My research is all about understanding conserved mechanisms and pathways of photosynthesis whose role or prevalence may not be apparent in an ideal laboratory setting, but become key when a photosynthetic system is exposed to dynamic conditions.

**What is the potential societal impact of your research?**
I hope that my research can further our fundamental understanding of photosynthesis. I foresee my findings being important not just in the lab, but deepening our understanding of how plants, algae, and bacteria cope with photosynthetic limitations and stresses in the real world. In doing this, we can hopefully engineer more resilient crops and agricultural systems for the future.

**Where do you see yourself in 10 years?**
Doing impactful science that I am proud of.
