Bio
The Musculoskeletal Therapeutics section of the Bone & Joint Center at Henry Ford Health focuses on the development of immunomodulatory and regenerative therapies to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Our main clinical focus areas are post-traumatic osteoarthritis (due to anterior cruciate ligament rupture) and intervertebral disc degeneration. Recent work has also included other orthopaedic surgery topics like rotator cuff healing and osseointegration of arthroplasty devices. From a technical perspective, our research is preclinical in nature and involves the use of high-resolution imaging techniques to assess tissue healing, the development of drug delivery systems and scaffold materials to promote immunomodulation and tissue regeneration, and advanced molecular characterization techniques to study immune and stem cell responses both in the context of disease and healing.
