### Research Interests
The laboratory is part of a collaborative group of principal investigators studying issues related to degeneration of the dopamine system in Parkinson’s disease and novel therapeutics for the disease. Multiple models are utilized ranging from cell culture to rodent models, and if warranted, nonhuman primate models. The focus of ongoing work includes programs aimed at identifying mechanisms associated with aging that predispose to Parkinson’s disease, and the potential therapeutic use of adult stem cells in PD. Additional interests include the benefits of diet and exercise, gene therapy approaches, and pharmacological/molecular interventions.
