Bio
Ph.D., MLS(ASCP), SBB, CHT(ACHI) Dr. Wlosinski (pronounced "low-sin-ski) graduated from BLD’s Clinical Laboratory Science (now Medical Laboratory Science) program in 2012 and completed her clinical internship at Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit, MI). At the completion of her internship, Dr. Wlosinski received her Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in 2013 and became employed exclusively within the Transfusion Medicine department at Henry Ford Hospital. Throughout her tenure at Henry Ford Hospital, Dr. Wlosinski developed a deep passion for immunohematology (blood banking) and teaching; this led to the desire to take her skills even further. In 2015 she was admitted to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center (Houston, TX) Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) program and received her SBB board certification from ASCP in 2016. After the completion of her SBB, Dr. Wlosinski went on to complete a Master of Science (MS) degree in Transfusion Medicine from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (Galveston, TX) in 2018; presenting a thesis on Iatrogenic Anemia within Intensive Care Patient Populations. In addition to the skills acquired on the bench as a medical laboratory scientist, and senior medical laboratory scientist, Dr. Wlosinski has also trained both Michigan State and Wayne State medical laboratory science students, trained resident physicians, performed competency training, and prepared for CAP inspections. Along with individual academic research endeavors, Dr. Wlosinski collaborated on research within both the Transfusion Medicine, and Transplant Medicine departments while at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Wlosinski returned to MSU in 2018 under the mentorship of Dr. Gerlach. In 2024, she earned her Ph.D. in Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology after successfully defending her dissertation titled: RBC Alloantibodies in Transplant Patients and the Histologic Distribution of RBC Group Antigens in Deceased Donor Tissues. When not with BLD, Dr. Wlosinski can be found in the Immunohematology and Serology (HLA) laboratory on campus, where she is a Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT); performing clinical, molecular compatibility testing and immunological monitoring of solid organ transplant patients, and also completing her postdoctoral training.
