Research
The administration of the department is shared with the Associate Chair whose duties include the supervision of the undergraduate program and academic advising, course scheduling, room scheduling, and other related curricular matters.

My recent interests have focused on microbiological education and I am primarily involved in teaching. Current responsibilities include teaching basic bacteriology to Veterinary students and laboratory techniques to undergraduate majors.

Past research interests have been concerned with 1) effects of antimicrobial substances on bacterial membrane processes, ii) chemical and physical changes in membrane properties brought about by alterations in the growth environment of various bacteria, and iii) determining water content and distribution in endospores of different heat resistances.
