(Obstetrics Gynecology and Reproductive Biology) As a developmental biologist, Jose Teixeira has spent years studying the genetics of fibroid tumors, which produce extreme discomfort for many women and are a leading cause of infertility and hysterectomies. He also studies endometrial and ovarian cancers with a goal of developing better treatments tailored to each patient and each tumor by identifying the genetic pathways that are disrupted during the progression of those diseases.
